I've seen more than one person put a post on YOUmoz that they also put on their own blog, so that's one possibility.

Hi Lori,
Thank you so much for the kind comment. I totally agree...photos and illustrations really perk up a blog and add an element of fun and life.

It's very flattering that you think my writing would be good enough for YOUmoz. That's a neat feature Fishkin and his team have established. I've actually considered trying to submit to them, but have never made up my mind to do it. It takes a lot of time to write something blogworthy, and whenever I think of something, I always put it here:) But, you are quite right in that it might enlarge my readership to invest the time in YOUmoz. Thank you for the suggestion! I really appreciate it.

Kind Regards,
Miriam

Sorry for the double post - but have you thought of submitting a post like this to SEOmoz's YOUmoz blog section? You'd get a ton more readers, and your writing is of such high quality I think your posts would be really popular.

Another superb post, Miriam! I love the "salesperson" analogy. Recently I've made a commitment to always put beautiful photos in my blog (whenever I can) and I think it makes it so much nicer for everyone. I looooove BigStockPhoto.

Hey, someone who read the whole post! :)
Thanks, Tinkerbell.
We got good with Photoshop just by using it over and over again during the years, but if you could find a good class, maybe that could speed up the rate of learning. There are also Photoshop tutorials online that are free and take you step by step through creating different effects.

It's been interesting to me to watch the changes in Photoshopping styles that have taken place over the years (going from everything having huge dark dropshadows to the flat glossy look that became popular last year). I don't think one style fits all and like to make each design unique, but starting with good quality photos is certainly a huge help, whatever style or type of business one is working with.

Good cameras are getting less expensive. I hope to be able to afford one one day as I have an idea for a photo-oriented website that I think could be good. In the meantime, there's good old iStock, etc.

Thanks for reading my post, my friend!

Well, Miriam, I read the whole post. Now I want to move into that house you described. High quality work as usual. I love your salesman holding the board, too. Great ideas...good advice to follow. Selling on the internet is tough, but you made a good point that not all sites are up to snuff, so there is hope. I like what you said about pictures too. I've got to take a Photo Shop class and see what improvements I can make.
