Professional Blogging Service

What I'm about to write may come as a surprise to you: if you don't enjoy writing, a blog may not be a good idea for your company. I spend a great deal of my life on the web, taking note of how businesses of all sizes present themselves. Through my work as a professional copywriter, web designer and marketer, I've reached the conclusion that the most powerful blogs are those written by blog and business owners who bring both passion and writing skills to their topic. These are the blogs that win awards, influence thought and make a name for themselves across the Internet.

So what does this mean for you if you aren't a pro blogger, aren't confident about your writing skills but do have information to share that you feel will provide some benefit to your potential customers? My honest opinion doesn't rule you out of being able to use a blog in valuable ways, but aiming for blogging fame should probably be ruled out of your attainable goals.

Let me talk in specifics. Let's say you are a professional fence contractor. You build the best fences in town. Sometimes, you offer promotional deals, get to work on a really noteworthy project, have a funny anecdote to share about company news or have some how-to tips for home improvement projects that you feel your customers would enjoy. You had a blog developed for your website because you heard it was important to do so, but when you sit down in front of that white screen to write, your brain and hands seem to freeze up and you fear that what you put down on that web page for all to read is not going to match the professionalism of your business.

This is such a common scenario in the small-to-medium business world that I've come to identify and think of the results as neglected blog syndrome. I'd rather you have no blog at all than have a blog live on your site that hasn't been updated since 2006. A dead blog sends a signal of silence to your website's visitors - they may even think your company has gone out of business. If this describes your situation, now is the time to make a critical decision: either deactivate your blog or bring someone on board who will commit to updating your blog on a regular basis with lively, simple blog posts.

Why Do People Think Blogs Are So Great?
If you've been doing business on the web for even a short period of time, chances are you've heard a lot of positive praise of the potentials of blogs to improve and increase your presence of the Internet. This praise is well-founded, and I'd like to clarify for you the benefits a frequently updated blog can provide to a business like yours.

Benefits of Blogging:

  • An active blog bespeaks a lively, current business environment.
  • An active blog provides a medium for showcasing your authority in your industry.
  • An active blog can put a personal, approachable, friendly face on your business.
  • Every blog post you publish is a new chance to pursue high rankings for new sets of keywords that are important to your business.
  • The comments field on a blog post offers potential customers a chance to engage with you, asking you questions that, if answered helpfully, can earn trust for your business.
  • Every Internet user who encounters one of your blog posts on a topic that interests him is then exposed to your company's brand. He may become a future customer.

All of these points are excellent reasons for maintaining an active blog on your website. All that is required from you is a commitment to ensuring that your blog is frequently updated, sending signals that your business is alive and well, not gathering dust.

Developing A Relationship With A Professional Blogger
In addition to running my company's own blog, I am a contributing author at one of my industry's top marketing blogs, Search Engine Guide. I have been engaged as a guest blogger by other pro bloggers and run several of my own hobby blogs on topics of personal interest. My blog posts have been honored with repeat nominations in the SEMMYs juried copywriting awards. In addition to this, I engage in short and long-term blogging contracts for clients who require a specific number of blog posts on a monthly basis. How this relationship works is up to you, the client. Here are the scenarios in which I most commonly work:

  • You dictate the topics and keywords. I write the blog posts.
  • I learn about your business and market. I research your keywords and suggest and write the blog posts.
  • I email you blog post copy at an agreed-upon frequency and you post it to your blog.
  • You give me access to your blog, I log into its dashboard and manually enter the blog posts at an agree-upon frequency.

Every business is different. You might have no idea what your company should be blogging about, or you may have an in-house SEO who is dictating specific topics that should be covered. I am happy to customize my services to meet your specific needs. In addition to creating a contract which specifies how copy topics will be determined, we can come up with a plan for how frequently you would like your blog updated. You may need four posts a month or several posts a week. Your budget and my availability will enable us to discuss and create a winning arrangement!

Your Investment

I try to keep this part as simple as possible for my clients. My rate for research, editing and copywriting is $100/hr. Rates may be adjusted for large projects.

Why Hire Me

The web is swamped with penny copy written by anonymous pools of offshore copywriters whose only task is to stuff awkward pages full of a certain number of keywords. Your business deserves better than this if the impression you want to make is a truly professional one. My clients want their web copy to read as beautifully and convincingly as the content found between the covers of respected magazines, journals and books. If you take your business seriously, so will I as I work to understand the core of your company's value, mission and goals. With your committed quest for success on the web and my utterly personal approach to writing exceptional copy, we should make a winning team.
